Philadelphia Medicare Part D Do you live in Pennsylvania and are on Medicare Part D? Allen Heffler, Medicare broker and Medicare Advisor in Willow Grove, advises that there could be a way to lower the cost of prescriptions dramatically. Heffler states “As a Medicare Advisor and broker, the number one complaint we receive from clients is the cost of prescription drugs. We have heard many times that consumers simply cannot afford some of their prescriptions, such as insulin.” However, depending on your situation, you may be eligible for significant help. The state of Pennsylvania has a prescription assistance program, which could lower the cost of your drugs, for residents age 65 and over called Pace and Pacenet. To be eligible, you must be age 65 and older, a Pennsylvania resident for at least 90 days, and you can not be enrolled in Medicaid’s prescription benefit. There are income requirements as well. For Pace total income for a single person must be $14,500 or less. Married couple- $17,700 or less. For PaceNet total income for a single person must be $23,500 or less. Married couple- $31,500 or less. Costs of prescriptions can be significantly lowered. If you are eligible for Pace, cost of brand name prescriptions will be no more than $9. Generic prescriptions will be no more than $6. If you are eligible for PaceNet, cost of brand name prescriptions will be no more than $15. Generic prescriptions will be no more than $8. There are two Part D providers/partners in 2017- SilverScript Choice and WellCare Classic. If you are enrolled in one of these plans in 2017, there is no cost for either Pace or PaceNet. Allen Heffler concludes “If you might be eligible for one of these programs, you should absolutely take advantage of it. Here at MyMedicareAdvisor, located outside of Philadelphia realize that all of this can be extremely confusing. We can help you. Just call us at (215) 658-1776.
